We recognise the importance of individuality when it comes to framing. Our custom framing allows for complete personalisation, including sizing and unique styles. We offer 3 types of glass for picture framing:
Regular glass, art glass & Acrylic.
Clear Float Glass: This is the standard glass used in most high-quality frames. It provides excellent clarity and protects the artwork from dust and damage. Clear float glass is a popular choice for everyday framing needs.
Art Glass: For more precious and valuable artworks, we recommend our museum-grade Art Glass. This specialized glass offers enhanced protection for your artwork. It provides 99% anti-glare protection, reducing reflections and ensuring optimal visibility of the piece. Art Glass is also equipped with 70% UV protection, safeguarding the artwork from harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause fading and deterioration over time.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CUSTOM AND READY-MADE FRAMES?
The primary distinction between custom-made and ready-made picture frames lies in the price. Custom picture frames are individually crafted using higher-quality materials to suit and fit customers' artwork precisely. The use of superior materials and labour-intensive production raises the cost. On the other hand, ready-made picture frames are available in standard sizes, either in imperial or metric measurements. They are often mass-produced in inexpensive labour markets using lower-grade materials.
At Maddisons, we take pride in our approach. Whether it's a ready-made or custom frame, we assemble all our frames on-site in our Gisborne shop. We do not engage in mass production using cheap or inferior materials. Every frame, regardless of its type, is crafted to the same exceptional standards.
Our frames are constructed using locally sourced, sustainably grown pine and hardwood, including Australian timbers. To ensure precision and accuracy, we utilise a state-of-the-art precision mitre saw that allows for precise cuts without any room for error. Additionally, our CMC Computerized Mat Cutters enable us to create intricate and flawless mat designs.
OUR COMMITMENT TO QUALITY
As memorabilia producers and autograph collectors, we understand the importance of using materials that preserve the integrity of our items. While cheap materials may seem like a cost-saving option, we believe in the long-term benefits of investing in high-quality materials.
Quality doesn’t need to cost the world, through experience and a longstanding relationship with trusted suppliers, we can source materials that strike a balance between durability and affordability.
